My momma's book. Maye wrote poetry her entire life. Many collections of originals were lost throughout the years, due to floods, and other devastating events. Over a twenty year period, she was a regular contributor to “Over the Ozarks,” a column published by the Springfield News-Leader (MO). The poems in this collection were given to her adopted daughter/granddaughter Lisa LaRue with a handwritten note: “Honey, if you ever have time or get bored, could you type these for me? Maybe they’d make a good book someday.” The folder they were in was titled “For my book.” Her two favorite things in life were 'words' and 'birds.' Lisa LaRue (Baker) has published these highlights in honor of the hundredth anniversary of Maye’s birth.
