Proceeds from the Sales of ORIGINS to go to ALS in Honor of Drummer Merrill Hale

Lisa LaRue is donating any artist proceeds from the sale of her 25-year retrospective “Origins” earned throughout the holiday season to the ALS Association (October 1 – December 31, 2019).

Most of the drumming you hear on the collection, as well as co-writing on many of the tracks (most notably, "Prometheus"), were performed and created by Merrill Hale. Hale has been the drummer for 2KX since the 2K9 project, as well as for ARZ and a number of Portland-area bands.  Merrill has been diagnosed with ALS.

“Merrill is an integral part of the 2KX sound. It’s only right we do this, especially in light of the upcoming 10 year anniversary of 2KX,” said LaRue.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to their death. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed.  More info about ALS can be found at

2KX bandmates, technicians and guests include Steve Adams, Mike Alvarez, Don Schiff, John Baker, John Payne, Michael Sadler and many others.  They all thank you on behalf of Merrill for helping the efforts to beat ALS!
